“Extraction Failed! There is an error detected with ‘[Account Name]’ account
If you’re seeing this message when uploading a 1099-B, it means TraderFyles was unable to extract the required data from the PDF. This usually happens for a few common reasons:
🛠️ Common Causes:
1. No Closing Transactions Found
Even if the file was uploaded correctly, if there are no closing transactions (e.g., sales of securities) in your 1099-B, there’s nothing to extract for gain/loss calculations. This can trigger an extraction error.
2. Scanned PDF File
Our system requires digitally-generated PDFs, not scanned images or photos. If your 1099-B was printed, scanned, and then uploaded, it won't be readable by our system.
3. Unsupported PDF Structure
Some brokerages use unique formats that don’t follow standard IRS layout or reporting conventions. If the file has an unusual structure or layout, TraderFyles may not be able to process it automatically.
✅ What You Can Do:
- Check if the 1099-B contains any closing transactions
- Make sure your PDF is the original downloaded version, not a scan or photo
- Try uploading a different file format (CSV if available)
