Why Am I Seeing “None of the provided accounts are taxable”?

If you’re seeing the message “None of the provided accounts are taxable”, this typically means that:

🔍 1. No Taxable Brokerage Accounts Were Detected

TraderFyles checks your connected brokerage accounts to determine if any are taxable accounts (e.g., individual, joint, or margin accounts). If only retirement accounts like IRAs or 401(k)s are connected, we won't be able to generate a tax report, since retirement accounts are tax-deferred and don’t require capital gains reporting.

📅 2. No Closing Transactions in the Current Year

Even if you connected a taxable account, it must have at least one closing transaction (i.e., a sale of a security or option) in the current tax year. If there were no such transactions, there’s nothing to calculate for gain/loss purposes—so we’ll show this message instead.

✅ What You Can Do Next:

  • Double-check your connected accounts: Ensure you've linked all relevant taxable brokerage accounts.
  • Check for transactions: Review your activity for the year and verify that closing transactions occurred in the current tax year.
  • Still unsure? Reach out to our support team and we’ll help you review your connections.
