I'm not seeing my file when I try to input it into TraderFyles

TraderFyles is capable handling two file formats:

  • PDF
  • CSV

1099-B Match

If you are attempting to use the 1099-B Match tax report, your file format must be .PDF. The .PDF file cannot be a scanned copy. It must be the actual .PDF downloaded from your broker.

Audit My Broker

If you are attempting to use the Audit My Broker tax report, your file format must be .CSV. If you are not seeing your file in your File Explorer, it is likely that is not a .CSV format.

Follow these steps to change your .XLS or .XLSX into a .CSV:


Microsoft Excel

Open the file in Microsoft Excel. Choose 'File', then choose 'Save As'. Choose the location where the file will be saved (we recommend saving to your Desktop for quick access).

Next, choose 'CSV UTF-8' from the dropdown under the file name. If you don't see that option, choose 'CSV'. Both will work.


Save the file to your desktop and then upload it to TraderFyles again. If problems persist, please contact us at hello@traderfyles.com.

Google Sheets

Go to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/ and choose 'Blank spreadsheet'.

Next, choose 'File' and then click 'Open'. Choose 'Upload' in the top ribbon. Drag/drop your file here or browse and locate it and choose 'Open'.

Last, choose 'File', and then choose 'Download' and click 'Comma Separated Values (.csv)'. Save the file to your desktop and then upload it to TraderFyles.
